    Numerically analyzed the effect of 3-dimensional Electro-hydrodynamic flow over a flat plate for forced convection cooling using CD-Adapco’s Star CCM+. Formulated a mathematical model that includes the coupling of space charge generation, space charge diffusion, fluid dynamics and heat transfer. Particular attention was devoted to correctly modeling the relation between the electric field at the anode and the amount of charge injected from the anode corona into the neutral gas region.The effect of the electric potential on the fluid dynamics was observed and reported. Boundary layer reduction over the flat plate was successfully shown in the simulation.

    Responsibilities:•Production of Nano-sized powders of the copper-ceramic mixture using mechanical alloying technique.•Determination of the size of the particles in the powdered mixture using X-ray diffraction technique.•Designing the compaction tool using SolidWorks.•Consolidation of the powdered mixture by using high shear powder consolidation technique.•Subjecting the green compact obtained to heat treatment for strengthening and effective bonding.•Preparation of the compact samples for further testing.•Mechanical testing and SEM imaging of the composite produced and comparison with standard copper.Accomplishments:•The SEM images of the samples showed that a good homogeneity of copper and PDC was obtained.•Achieved an increase in micro-hardness, double that of copper•A new composite material was synthesized using Nano-sized powders and its mechanical properties were studied and variation of these properties with changes in composition was observed.
