- Implemented compression layer using Nginx to reduce the bytes transferred over the wire. Doing this enhanced user experience and reduced the time taken to complete critical funnels by 0.8-1.0 sec.- Planned and migrated services to EKS running on Graviton nodes. Doing this saved 40-60% of EC2 running costs. Also moved some non-EKS workloads to either Graviton or AMD EC2 fleet to save cost by 40-50%.

- Built a serverless solution to scale all our infrastructure using ML trained models to ensure we don't spend money on under-utilized hardwares and this also reduced human efforts needed. This helps us scale for Mega Cricket events like IPL, WorldCup, IND vs PAK matches.- Built the real-time game engine which prepares scores and leaderboard for all teams across various contests in a given match. This engine can scale more than 30x horizontally keeping time based SLAs in check. This is built on serverless philosophy and we do not run any dedicated Spark clusters.- Designed cost effective APK delivery solution using AWS CloudFront with custom tools and scripts to give fine grained observability into user download requests. This helped us achieve 15% more complete downloads as compared with previous architecture.- Bult and scaled websocket connection layer to host huge numbers of live users with minimal hardware.- Built frontend node.js based proxy layer which can handle large volume user requests at scale keeping low latency numbers.- Scaled multiple redis clusters to meet our scaling challenges.

- Designed and led the team to build an array of power features like, Snooze, Send Later, True Inbox, Email Templates, Email alias etc. These features improved user stickiness.- Designed and implemented a generic time-based job scheduling infrastructure using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and SQS. It’s the heart of features like Snooze and Send Later.- Developed serverless log pipeline to aggregate all CloudWatch Logs to a central ELK stack.- Stabilized high CPU issues in node.js job workers using Brendan’s CPU Flame graphs.- Optimised Dynamodb usage and reduced overall IOPS consumption. We now send out more than67M push notifications every day with less cost.- Investigated a haunting issue of “Email stuck in Outbox”. Fixed 87% of these issues. Doingthis improved our reliability and reduced number of support tickets created per week.- Created local setup of CloudMagic stack using Vagrant. This reduced the overall backenddevelopment time and cost.- Built contextual “Connected Apps” framework which integrates services like Evernote,OneNote, Pocket, Salesforce etc. right inside the Email.
