When I look back at my life and career, the word that immediately pops to mind is serendipity. Serendipity means happy accident and serendipitously the word comes from Serendib, the old name for Sri Lanka the land of my birth. From founding Wavenet and leading it onto the world stage, to the random chance encounters that have made it possible, serendipity has been there faithfully at my side. We are comrades in arms Serendipity and I, battle scarred and grizzled, veterans in a business world and industry (Telecommunications) that has seen incredible highs and also unfathomable lows. From monochrome screens to smartphones to digital disruption the pace of innovation and change has been staggering. Through it all we have laughed, cried, innovated, missed the bus, followed sheepishly from behind, leaped ahead, failed to finish and most importantly, learned, endured and pushed ahead.I am an entrepreneur, a innovator, an ideas man, a visionary. I am defiant, stubborn and cocky. The fat lady left the building as she could not find a song to sing.Serendipity and I are old friends, but we live in different cities now, we do not see each other as often.
