My first foray in Immunology was in my undergrad when I started losing my hair😀 I learned that I was suffering from alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease. This sparked an intense desire to learn about ‘tolerance’ (immune system’s non-responsiveness to self-antigens) and how to break it to target cancer. These two ends of tolerance (suppression of autoimmunity and potent anti-tumour immunity) still defines my research interests. My scientific journey lead me to many places, taught me the importance of leadership, taking initiative, and effective science communication. I am working on myself everyday to become a better scientist and a good human being.
