Under the general supervision of a Tax Administrator I, the Program Technician II (PT II) in the Tax Processing and Accounting Division’s (TPAD), Benefit and Rate Section (BRS), Contribution Rate Group (CRG), performs the more difficult and sensitive program assignments that involve processing employer protests to the Statement of Charges to the Reserve Account, DE 428T. The PT II uses good judgment and applies the provisions of the California Unemployment Insurance Code (CUIC), Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR), precedent decisions of the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board (CUIAB), and the Department’s policies and procedures in addressing complex benefit charge protest workloads, responding to employers’ protests to benefit charges, and making necessary updates/adjustments to the Department’s Accounting and Compliance Enterprise System (ACES), Single Client Data Base (SCDB), and Client Work Manager (InfoImage). In addition, the PT II processes the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) Decisions/Rulings related to UI benefits ensuring the appropriate action is taken regarding charges or removal of charges to the UI reserve account.

Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Resolves incoming calls concerning members eligibility, application status, monthly premium billing, broker license, broker commissions, etc. • Composes routine and non-routine correspondence to answer broker inquiries in writing. • Performs inventory reduction, routine to mid-level, (i.e. broker inquiries, responds to emails, etc.) • Participate in quality and efficiency workgroups to continuously improve quality member/customer satisfaction as requested. • Enhanced knowledge of medical terminology. • Accurately resolve all inquiries. • Other duties as assigned.
