Developing TLP to support Vertical Axis Wind Turbine in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratory for ARPA-E Atlantis Program

• Offset Pontoon Semisubmersible - Developed a new structurally optimized semi-submersible design that reduces platform steel weight by 10%. Received provisional patent: 16436382.• CNOOC Lingshui Semi-submersible - Verified global performance response of platform using model test data and time-domain analysis for the world's largest storage semi-submersible.• Repsol Ca Rong Do Tension Leg Platform - Performed global performance analysis of TLP to estimate motions and tendon tensions. Performed model test of TLP to obtain wind and current loads, confirm motions of stand-alone platform, and obtain vortex induced motions of stand-alone TLP and coupled with Tender-Assisted Drilling Unit. Performed pre-service global performance analysis to evaluate motions of TLP before installation at its site. Performed interference analysis on flexible risers on TLP to verify design and configuration and risers’ locations on TLP.• IP and Software Management - Enlisted to transfer IP and software tools during company restructuring • Software Development - Developed Python-based scripts to pre-process data. Reduced dependence on Excel-based tools to automate creation of input data for numerical analysis. - Built Python routine to access OrcaFlex APIs to perform installation analysis for TLP. - Created programs using NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib to post-process time-series data from the model tests and numerical simulations.
