The Helene Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to North Carolina families with a mother actively undergoing cancer treatments. We focus on immediate, practical support and services for mothers and families fighting cancer.• Work with community and statewide businesses to arrange services for mothers and families such as food deliveries, house cleaning, tutoring, transportation, and day care.• Communicate with mothers and families to design service packages per their wants and needs, and to support them throughout their six-month service period and beyond.• Accept and evaluate referrals from social workers, health care providers, or the at-large community to select mothers and families needing services.• Plan and execute all fund-raising activities, including multiple events throughout each year. This responsibility includes all aspects (venue, tickets, food and drink, entertainment, auction items, keynote speaking) of the annual Gala.• Continuously create and build new fund-raising opportunities, including applying for grants, and thinking outside the box for new kinds of events.• Recruit and train volunteers, and execute a volunteer program that provides rewarding experiences and sustains a viable volunteer pool. • Cultivate relationships with community partners and donors to have services discounted or donated and to maintain and grow the revenue stream.• Manage budget, make all financial decisions, and execute all financial transactions; provide all donor tax receipts; work with accountant for tax and payroll purposes.• Maintain state charitable solicitation license and 501(c)3 status.• Plan and execute all board meetings.• Execute all outbound marketing communications through social media accounts, web sites, blogs, and email blasts.• Make appearances on television and radio spots to publicly spread the message of our mission.

Oversaw 1.5 million dollar budget, 1500 members, and 5 paid staff members. • Planned and led, using accomplished public speaking skills, whole-membership meetings (with more than 500 in attendance), monthly Board of Directors meetings, and regular leadership team meetings.• Proofed and edited all published media including magazines, programs, and membership letters.• Implemented plans, deployed programs, and set goals for subsequent leaders.• Oversaw all fundraisers: The Bargain Box (a thrift store), Shopping SPREE!, You’re Invited (the Junior League of Raleigh’s cookbook), and introduced a new fundraiser, A Showcase of Kitchens.• Met regularly with community leaders, and worked with them to evaluate, then deployed programs to meet community needs.• Emphasized and participated in the continued training and development of our members. • Worked with architect to design a plan for newly purchased 28,000 square feet headquarters building to meet the needs and desires of the membership and community. • Oversaw 2.4 million dollar renovation budget and completed project under budget.• Worked as liaison between Junior League of Raleigh and the construction company through all phases of construction and renovation.• Communicated with three different Boards of Directors and an evolving membership as project progressed.• Worked with local banks to secured financing for initial purchase of building, then additional funding for renovations.• Represented the Junior League throughout the bidding process, general contractor selection process, and permitting processes. • Attended weekly construction meetings, and met regularly with subcontractors.• Worked with interior designer to select all interior finishes and furniture.
