Worked as part of a team maintaining year on year the highest collection of Council Tax in Scotland. I advised the public on council tax and non domestic rate legislation, updating the database, issuing bills, reminders and debt collection. It was within this role that Orkney Islands Council funded my CIPFA studies.

Within this role I was responsible for preparing and signing up the certificates, timesheets and bills of lading for the oil and gas leaving the oil terminal.Working over 12 hour shifts I was required to board the vessels, liaise with ships captains of all nationalities and ensure the accuracy, completion, agreement and signature on all documents, to allow the tankers to leave port with the cargo.Left this role to raise family.
