Consultancy has included:- Consulted for Array Biopharma, Inc., a biotech company developing a proprietary small molecule drug for diabetes, pain and inflammation patients on market analysis, sales projects and licensing partnerships. - Created decision validation reports and a decision matrix for potential strategic partnership candidates including Array Biopharma, OPX Technologies, Solix Biofuels and Sunrise Genetics for competitive intelligence. - Performed competitive analyses for Solix Biofuels, an early state algae energy company including researching the algae GMO competitive landscape for the executive team, initially as a consultant and hired full-time at the director-level after completing the contract. - Analyzed historic and future sugar market to correctly predict accurate sugar prices for OpX Biotechnologies sugar feedstock sourcing negotiations for their bio-based chemical products.

• Served as an adjunct teaching faculty member, utilizing a flexible teaching approach to teach 1st semester biology to biology majors.

TreatmentX was a CanopyBoulder Incubated Start-up in 2018. I was the Chief Scientific Officer. TreatmentX was committed to accelerating Cannabis Hemp Medicine through identifying scientific insights via patient-reported outcomes.

• Built cannabis and hemp industry connections while gaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of current and potential customer research needs and ongoing projects. • Attended/vended cannabis and hemp-related events, exploring and identifying partnerships for Canadian market-specific for genetic-based tools developed in-house. • Developed strategy and executed the expansion of new sales channels for the North America market and obtained rapid familiarity of R&D, providing comprehensive support both internally and externally.

• Led the strategic business development and operations for an innovative medical device company including target market identification, competitive analysis, funding strategy, prototype development and early stage roles (website content, product animation, project management and business relations).

• Served as a research faculty member in the Computational Biology lab, obtaining in-depth training in Computational Biology and Nextgen Sequencing Computation. • Managed a number of federally-funded laboratory research projects for Dr. Ryan Gill and RASEI focused on the development of a genome-scale technology platform for predictive design, re-design and optimization of bacterial systems to develop “green” liquid biofuels and bio-commodities. • Oversaw general lab operations, including project management, financial management, compliance and human resources. • Wrote grant proposals and prepared annual reports for funding from the DoE, DoD and NFS. • Researched algal/microbial biotechnology using NextGen sequencing and genomics techniques and computational biology tools.

• Worked in collaboration with the CTO and Vice Presidents of Biotechnology and Business Development to guide the design and implementation of product strategy and launch of algae biofuel products. • Hired 5 biologists to meet aggressive scale-up and commercialization goals, leading to the development of initial algae biofuel product of interest to major refinery and protein stream of interest to food and animal feed industries.• Initiated a peer-review system to shepherd interdisciplinary R&D projects and a project approval committee. - Successfully launched a pilot commercial research plant while leading the R&D team in expanding algae cultivation management systems for lipid and bio-product optimization. - Directed a team of 15 biologists working cross functionally with other company engineering team members to get pilots successfully launched. - Increased algal productivity and lipid yield by 50% year-over-year by optimizing algal growth and controlling contamination.

• Analyzed and produced business plans for early-stage startup companies, evaluating the competitive landscapes. • Supported CU Faculty Inventors in invention disclosure/IP portfolios for biomedical life science products.• Determined freedom to operate commercial platform and proof of concept funds, invention disclosures and competitive roadmap for therapeutics, medical devices and software.
