Susan M. Coler represents whistleblowers in False Claims Act (Qui Tam) cases, prosecuting entities that defraud the government. Susan represented one of the whistleblowers in a $1.5 billion False Claims Act settlement against Abbott Laboratories, the fifth largest recovery in the history of the False Claims Act. She has brought False Claims Act lawsuits in the areas of health care, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, government procurement, small business and defense fraud, and government contracts. Susan also represents other kinds of whistleblowers, including those who report SEC violations, IRS fraud, and violations of the FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act). She has further filed claims on behalf of whistleblowers under the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA). Susan's whistleblower practice is national in scope, with lawsuits filed across the country, and includes work with the National Whistleblower Center in Washington, D.C. Susan also represents whistleblowers in both stand-alone individual retaliation cases and as part of False Claims Act lawsuits. She is an MSBA Certified Labor and Employment Law Specialist and has spoken at local, regional, and national legal conferences on class action and employment law.
