With more than 30 years of experience as an award-winning journalist, public affairs/corporate communications officer and senior executive officer of a major philanthropy, I am able to provide a wide range of counsel to individuals and organizations that aspire to be leaders in their industry and to tell their stories strategically and effectively for a wide range of internal and external audiences.

I served as the Foundation's founding Chief Operating Officer, and at various times during my tenure, I led the communication, program and evaluation functions of the foundation. The foundation became recognized in national ratings by its peers as one of the most influential education foundations within seven years of inception.

I was hired to build the Public Affairs Department at USA Group at a time when the federal govenment was attempting a takeover of the student loan industry. I chaired a national public affairs committee to educate policymakers on the value of the guaranteed student loan program, and we prevailed in preserving the program during the 1990's. Later, I assumed responsibility for leading Corporate Communications, a 35-person department. USA Group became the national leader in the student loan industry during this time, and its communications were widely viewed as the best in the industry.

I was hired to build a Communications presence for one of the nation's largest private foundations. Within a few years, its Annual Report won honors in the Top 10 of the largest foundations in America. In addition, we launched Progressions magazine to tell the stories of various grant initiatives through the voices of grantees.I wrote the 50-year historical sketch of the Endowment, and helped develop and communicate several of the largest grants in its history.

I was responsible for developing the editorial agenda for this ABC News affiliate, which at the time, was the leading television news station in Indiana. I researched and wrote more than 400 editorials in my tenure, and began delivering them on air after my first year or two. I was also tapped to produce and anchor the station's weekly public affairs show, "Newsmakers." During my tenure, we produced editorials that earned 13 top honors among the state's professional journalistic associations.
