Currently a Director at EY MENA, leading the valuations team for Audit & Assurance across Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region – covering UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, amongst other countries across MENA. I had been closely involved in planning, setting up and building the valuations team, along with the senior leadership, for EY’s Audit and Assurance practice in MENA. - Responsible for reviewing third-party/ independent/ management reports and providing the final review sign-off on valuations required for statutory and financial reporting purposes – encompassing a wide range of valuation review types and methodologies. - Valuation review types include - goodwill impairment (IAS 36), IFRS 13 fair value reviews for investment funds, private equity portfolios, minority shareholdings, investments for Sovereign Wealth Funds, family offices, banks, insurance companies, purchase price allocations (PPA - valuation of intangible assets post-acquisition; application of IFRS 3: Business Combinations), brand valuations, real estate portfolios (income generating properties/ land), WACC and methodology reviews, amongst others. - Extensive experience across valuation methodologies such as the discounted cash flow (DCF), multiples-based/ relative valuation (using comparable companies’ analysis/ precedent transactions), dividend yield/ discount models, Relief From Royalty (RFR), Multi-Period Excess Earnings Method (MPEEM), With & Without method etc.- Sector coverage includes - Manufacturing (Consumer & Industrial products), Healthcare/ Medical equipment, Education, Consumer Product & Retail, Infrastructure, Logistics & Transport, Telecom/ Media/ Technology, Financial services, including Asset Management & Brokerage, Insurance, Banks, Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas, Pharma/ Life sciences, Power & Utilities, Real Estate, & other industries. - Providing support and advice to Audit Partners, Directors and the MENA Assurance practice on matters related to valuations for financial reporting purposes- Leadership role which includes managing a high-performing team, guiding and mentoring the team on various aspects related to review execution, managing the resource/ team mix and timelines, ensure continuous development and training of team members, ensuring the quality of review memos, managing stakeholder relationships as well as other operational aspects towards achieving the overall team objectives. I have a total of 20 years of experience, and prior to EY, I was heading the Valuations and M&A practice at PKF UAE.
