About Susan Daniels

I am the National Autism Coordinator (NAC), a role created by Congress to oversee coordination of federal autism research, services, and support activities. I am also the Director of the Office of National Autism Coordination (ONAC) at the National Institute of Mental Health/NIH, which provides support for the NAC and the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC), a federal advisory committee created by Congress to coordinate federal agencies and to advise the Secretary of Health and Human Services on issues related to autism. I serve as the Executive Secretary of this committee, which is composed of federal officials and members of the autism community representing many diverse perspectives. I use my expertise in neuroscience and federal government policy to oversee federal autism strategic planning, analysis, reporting, and communications activities and serve as a liaison with federal agencies and external organizations on matters related to autism and disabilities.
