The NDD BID Ambassadors are responsible for providing a high-profile on-street information and assistance service to those who live, labor, and leisure in the Newark Downtown District. Our ambassadors offer a warm welcome to visitors and the general public. We ensure that the public isaware of the range of services offered by BID businesses. Ambassadors are the “eyes and ears” ofthe Business Improvement District, sharing relevant information with BID businesses and monitoring andreporting on District activity and areas for improvement.

Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates administrative and clerical supportstaff; determines work assignments and work schedules to most effectivelymeet Division needs, and has principal responsibility for resolvingpersonnel problems.2. Prepares and projects the Division’s annual budget and monitors approvedbudget with broad authority to approve expenditures.3. Is responsible for managing and supervising the activities of the LocksmithDepartment which include campus-wide key control, building accessauthority and lost key interventions.4. Assists in the development of various police department initiatives and isresponsible for special operations and projects which may be ongoing orshort-term and which require planning, coordination and supervision.5. Researches and advises the Associate Vice President of Public andEnvironmental Safety of departmental needs and current trends in uniforms,weaponry, armor, radio and dispatch systems, fleet management, and otherequipment needed by the Division of Public Safety.6. Works closely with the Department of Education, local and state policedepartments, the President’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office towrite and prepare the annual campus crime report to assure the University’scompliance with the Clery Act.7. Negotiates contracts for equipment, uniforms, and other purchasing needson behalf of the Division of Public Safety.8. As part of the leadership team, collaborates with administrators in policydecisions regarding the administration of the Division of Public Safety.9. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President, develops and writes theCOPS grant proposals which provide partial funding for the communitypolicing program.
