Leading a team of analysts to design and deliver policy research projects for governments, other public sector bodies, industry and social sector organisations.

I led a team developing policy and insights related to the circular economy and the path to net zero. I was responsible for guiding and coordinating policy work across the organisation, and implementing strategic programmes related to policy development, covering research projects and impact assessments. I ensured that high-quality, timely policy support was provided to the Scottish Government, proactively liaising with government stakeholders in Scotland and the rest of the UK to ensure efficient, joined-up policy development. Policy work included:- Restrictions on single-use plastic items (Scottish regulations)- Reforms to extended producer responsibility regulations for packaging (UK regulations)In order to translate our evidence base into positive policy impact, I represented Zero Waste Scotland on Scotland's Climate Emergency Research Group (CERG), as well as engaging with other groups and overseeing consultation responses. Policy engagement topics included heat in buildings, the National Planning Framework and building standards.

Research, analysis, project development and project management in the fields of public policy and international affairs, for world-leading clients including The EIU and Longitude, part of the Financial Times Group.Delivered a wide range of quantitative and qualitative research projects, from large index projects and surveys to short articles, academic literature reviews, deep-dive reports and thought leadership pieces. Regularly interviewed senior decision-makers and experts from corporate, academic and policy spheres, including many C-suite executives. Topics included supply chain sustainability and resilience, carbon capture methods, international health security, corporate governance, China-Africa trade, China's Belt and Road Initiative, policies on the prevention of sexual violence, and long-range scenario analysis for future cities.

The sole representative of our custom research function in the Greater China region. Worked closely with business development managers to identify clients, pitch our capabilities and USPs, develop and pitch custom projects, and deliver projects to tight commercial parameters. Collaborated with colleagues in Thought Leadership, Communications and Events to gain maximum impact for public-facing research outputs.Managed project teams drawn flexibly from a global network of internal analysts as well as external contributors and contractors. Ensured a level of analytical and editorial quality and consistency expected from a world-leading media and research brand. I assisted with early-stage research, idea development and funding applications for Matthew Torne and Grace Wong's documentary on a volunteer basis. We met with a number of Hong Kong's political activists and politicians, learning a lot about the workings of the city's quasi-democracy. The film was the inspiration for the later award-winning documentary, Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower.
