Shaping young hearts and minds - my twenty-two-year journey of moulding and facilitating students has instilled in me the belief that nurturing the hearts and minds of young learners will transform them into the leaders, creators and trend-setters of the 21st Century.Following a successful career as an English Teacher for Grades 9-11 (1997-2009) and Head of Years (Grades 9-11) for 8 years at GEMS Westminster School, Dubai, I joined Queen International School in September 2009 as a teacher of English (Grade 9-11). The same year I was offered the post of the Head of English for Secondary School.My experience in secondary schools has made me sensitive to the need of cutting across the social and cultural diversity of the city to provide an inclusive educational experience for all students. I have always sought to foster an open environment that embraces the rich breadth of my pupils’ backgrounds. I have been at the forefront of various initiatives that ensure the school can respond to the challenges of a changing pupil demographic. Above all, I maintain a positive dialogue with parents to ensure that they understand the objectives and vision of the school. In 2018, I took up the post of Head of Secondary at Queen and played a significant role in aligning the school curriculum with the required Year group, based on the National Curriculum of England. In addition to this, I am playing a lead role in the teaching and learning team of the school. The heritage and culture of the UAE are very close to my heart and I have the privilege to conduct several events in my capacity as the Lead Teacher in charge of the student council.My experience at Queen International School has equipped me with leadership skills and empowered me with a drive for excellence. By the grace of God, my work through the years has produced tremendous impact and received acclaim, and I look forward to the future with a vision to soar to greater heights in leadership.
