As a career civil servant I led on a variety of challenging policies, often on issues of social concern, in several government departments - Work and Pensions, Cabinet Office, Education and the Ministry of Justice. During my final years as a senior civil servant I also had considerable direct and indirect management responsibilities. Since leaving the Civil Service I have been chair of governors at a large junior Academy for 11 years, using my civil service skills and experience extensively during a period of transition, review and change. For the past couple of years I have also been a Local Leader of Governance. I also manage several rental properties.
