Over 15 years of involvement within the deaf community and supporting their learning. My background stems from domiciliary caregiving support combined with a passion to offer consultative assistance to students with learning difficulties. I have a growing number of achievements which range from guiding two Deaf students to fulfil their potential through their studies, to presenting, interpreting and demonstrating in BSL to audiences with one particular example being a 5-minute demonstration with 600 plus attendees.Appointed as a Communications Support Worker, I work in close contact with the Learning Support Team to assist with the learning of students. I provide translation to and from British Sign Language with the English language to help meet their learning needs. From a teaching perspective I assist the students to meet lesson objectives, complete assignments and develop autonomy. Where required I correct their spelling, grammar and formulate work in their own words.Throughout my career, I have consistently provided the highest level of service to the institution, for example assisting teachers with their lessons during free periods. I possess extensive experience with interacting, assessing and motivating students to succeed and meet lesson objectives. With an excellent level of emotional intelligence, I can integrate into a teaching team and other work environments providing integral support to students as well as making a difference in the community. Furthermore, I possess sound knowledge of lesson and activity preparation, assessments, reports, as well as experience using Microsoft Office Packages.I am committed to continued professional development and welcome any opportunities to progress my career and reach maximum potential.
