My career covers a wide spectrum of life sciences research, publishing, and teaching. In my research, I use evolutionary comparisons through bioinformatic, phylogenetic, and comparative structural analyses that inform experiments to find out about the structure, function, and control of proteins involved in cell signaling. I use a variety of experimental methods drawn from molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and drug discovery to attack my experimental questions. I have broad and extensive life sciences teaching expertise that includes design and delivery of educational programs and courses given by traditional and distance education formats to a variety of student populations. My combination of interests and expertise has kept me agile and responsive to new developments in several different subspecialties, and it's still fun!
