During her time at university Susan gained experience in soil and rock descriptions along with mapping in many varied environments across Europe; sample collection and analysis for geotechnical purposes in the laboratory, and field based as well as geotechnical engineering practices.In the 6 years prior to joining CH2M (now JACOBS), Susan has worked as a geologist for various site investigation companies acquiring extensive experience in the supervision and management of geotechnical investigations involving: cable percussion boring, rotary boring, window sampling, trial pitting and dynamic probe and sampling rigs as well as a wide variety of specialised testing associated with ground investigations. Currently based as an Engineering Geologist, Susan's role now encompasses the preparation of desk studies, interpretative reports and the design and supervision of ground investigation surveys.In addition, she is experienced in geotechnical design (soil and rock cuttings and embankments), slope stability analysis of natural unstable slopes and monitoring and inspection of landslide areas.
