As Executive Director of the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission, a multijurisdictional quasi-governmental membership organization of regional municipalities, I facilitated shared solutions and regional planning amongst the municipalities in Lansing-East Lansing area of mid Michigan. Established by Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties. TCRPC provided high quality regional planning and technical assistance services in the areas of transportation, environmental protection, land use, and community economic development.
Economic Developer
I was the director of economic development for the largest and most economically significant township in Eaton County. Just west of the city of Lansing, Delta Township is home to the region's longest retail corridor along M-43 Saginaw Highway as well as a diverse array of quality housing options. And Delta Township has the region's largest areas of fully served, developable and developed industrial lands. Delta Township is home to one of the newest General Motors Corp manufacturing plants in the world, to many tier one auto suppliers, as well as a growing technology and insurance industry sector.

I directed the Ingham County Community Development Department with a joint appointment as the County’s Economic Development Extension Educator. In additon to attracting, retaining, and expanding businesses in the County, I developed statewide community economic development programs with other Extension Educators. We established ‘Creating Entrepreneurial Communities', to develop local strategies supporting small and entreprenuerial businesses.
Community Development (Land Use, Planning, Housing) Director
Director of the land use planning and zoning department including housing rehabilitation programs and county-wide economic development programs. Supervised 5-7 staff, developed, amended and administered County comprehensive land use plans, zoning code, and junk violations. Administered a a low income housing rehabilitation program. Established and administered a county-wide Brownfield Authority, a leadership development program with MSU-Extension, and a farmland preservation program. I faciliatated the updating of the county-wide master plan and zoning ordinances and represented the County in land use legal proceedings.
Economic Development Planner
I provided demographic and other data to development site consultants and businesses; maintained required development plans and administered grants from US Dept Commerce-Economic Development Administration; facilitated the Regional Economic Development(RED) Team of private and public developers, utilities, and municipal officials from the tri-county region; developed and implemented programs to attract, retain, and expand business and investment in the greater Lansing MI region.
