My curious nature and desire to make a positive impact, combined with my attention to detail and strong organization and communication skills motivated me to pursue my recent training in UX Design as I recognize that improving user experiences helps people in a meaningful way.I’m excited to be re-entering the workforce after taking time off to raise my two children and I look forward to applying my previous experience with my newly acquired skills from completing the User Experience Design Diploma program at BrainStation.Years of running a household, tending to the needs of young children while also assisting my partner in starting and growing a successful medical practice, including hiring and on-boarding staff, have helped me to understand the value of task prioritization, working under pressure and embracing and adapting to change. My extensive experience with a large variance of people, from age zero to 70+ has provided me with a wide perspective that I can apply to human-centred design principles in a unique way. As someone who joined the tech industry 20 years ago, when I studied New Media at Vancouver Film School, it has been an amazing experience to return to school at BrainStation and see how user experience design has changed the tech industry. My time spent working in tech, education, financial services and raising children while starting and growing a small business, combined with my technical UX Design skillset allows me to approach challenges from an empathetic standpoint in order to solve real pain points that individuals and companies alike face today.In my free time I can be found reading, going for walks, listening to podcasts, trying to convince my kids to play card and board games with me, learning to play pickleball, and regularly practicing yoga nidra meditation, of which I’m also a trained teacher.
