English Language Arts Supervisor, K-12
Current• Update and implement a five-year district-wide Literacy Action Plan which transitions all grades (K-8) to a Reading and Writing Workshop model and integrates elements such as Literature Circles and independent reading into high school classes. Considered staff development, consultant-based and in-house coaching, instructional leadership, resources, and curriculum revision.• Supervise all aspects (planning, personnel, curriculum, logistics) of the district-wide initiative to integrate (TCRWP) Workshop into K-8 classrooms; coordinate Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessments and multi-sensory word work program.• Lead K-5 elementary content committees; create standards-based report cards; design assessment rubrics to correlate with report cards; create and implement benchmark assessments.• Coordinate and design professional development (integrating non-fiction; understanding questioning; item analysis; close reading practices; using text-based evidence; book discussions; integration of technology; visiting speakers; site visits) to build teacher capacity, using the lens of NJSLS and PARCC testing.• Employ Danielson Model: utilize and implement the evaluation model with teachers; ascertain that they understand performance measures; observe teachers and conduct reflective post-conferences challenging teachers to both question practices and realize improved instruction.• Analyze AP data and PARCC evidence tables to inform curriculum and instruction.• Manage SGOs: help teachers to develop, monitor, and implement.• Serve on district-wide committees: Personalized Learning; RTI; Middle School honors criteria; Full-day Kindergarten; Professional Development School partnership.• Manage curriculum revision/design; hiring and associated duties.• Presentations: "To Make a Prairie: Creating a Climate of Growth,” CEL, NCTE, Atlanta, scheduled for November 2016; "Intentional Literacy Leadership.” Regional CEL, NCTE, October 2015.
