My Background:After a successful career in the mental health field, including doing threat management for the federal government, I made a career change to teaching special education. I have experienced both sides of special education: as a parent and a teacher. This gives me a special empathy for the parents of my students because I know what it is like to sit in an IEP meeting surrounded by professionals who are speaking in educational jargon and acronyms, not understanding my rights, and feeling intimidated. I make sure I never do that to parents. I treat their children as I would treat my own. *Licensed Special Education teacher (IL Type 10, LBS 1- Pre-school through age 21)*Ed.S.
