At hanover I was responsible for human resources including recruitment search and selection, supervising the employee appraisal system and process and updating employee policies and procedures such as the company manual, employment contracts and job descriptions.

During the London 2012 Olympic Games I volunteered to work on the news desk in the main press centre at the Olympic Park in Stratford. It was an exhausting but rewarding role in a vibrant and lively environment which involved answering press enquiries related to every aspect of the Olympic games.

This three-day-a-week role included: liaison with the HR department on all HR matters for the corporate practice including training, appraisals and recruitment; staff capacity planning and optimisation of existing employee talents and resources; monitoring and management of budget streams and P&Ls including liaison with the finance department; monitoring and reporting of all new business in the corporate practice

After leaving Trimedia, I undertook a number of freelance projects including: developing and delivering various training courses including presentation skills training (Axon Communications) and time management (Axon and Trimedia); drafting employee contracts and developing an employment manual for Axon Communications; developing an appraisal system and an in-house training programme for Trimedia; reviewing and editing a business research report for Vodafone

I joined Trimedia (which merged with Grayling in 2010) on a part-time basis to set up an HR department. This involved standardising and creating a number of procedures and protocols and covered all aspects of the HR function including:- Training – I developed a major new initiative for the company; an internal training and development programme which included courses run by external trainers and senior managers. - Recruitment of employees at all levels from receptionist and office junior to board director- Appraisals – introduction of a new appraisal system for all levels- Employment law – providing advice to both employees and management in consultation with employment lawyer- Employee issues – providing impartial advice and a ‘listening ear’ to employees- Employee motivation – reviewing and introducing appropriate financial and non-financial reward systems and benefits- Employee benefits – management and administration of all employee benefits including company pension, health club membership and private health insurance- Health and safetyIn this role I initially managed a full-time graduate HR assistant and subsequently a full-time HR manager and was responsible for development of all HR plans and management of the HR and training budget.

Reporting to the CEO South Asia region I was responsible for marketing projects for The Rowland Company itself including:- development of new credentials materials - development of a web site and CD-ROM- identification of speaking and media opportunities for senior executives- client relations including ‘satisfaction’ surveys, client functions/events to mark significant Rowland occasions (move to new premises) and client seminars with guest speakers- development of tools (PR Survival Kit) to help with consultants’ day-to-day efficiencies- liaison with other Rowland offices in Australia, South Asia and New York (head office)- working with the learning and development manager to develop a set of uniform human resources materials - assisting in the development of new business pitches both for the Sydney office and other offices in the South Asia region.While I was in this position, Rowland Worldwide implemented a new corporate identity and it was my responsibility to ensure Rowland Sydney materials were consistent with the new image.

As one of five board directors for the Sydney office, I was in charge of one of Sydney’s top three marketing PR teams with about twenty on-going clients and projects including: Johnson & Johnson, Eveready, Singapore Tourist Promotion Board, Unifoods, Procter & Gamble, Bristol Myers Squibb, Sanitarium (Weetbix), Goodman Fielder.During my four years in this role I grew the marketing group from an annual income of A$600,000 with a team of five people to A$1.2 million and ten people. I was primarily responsible for the development of programmes and media strategies for clients and personnel management within the marketing group. My responsibilities also included management of budgets and developing new business to meet targets (set by our parent office in New York). I was also responsible for recruiting any necessary staff within the group. Reporting direct to the CEO of the Australian network, I was responsible for quality control on all work but I also had an active role directing several clients.
