Provide legal counsel on variety of HR related matters in both union and union-free environments including ADA, FMLA, Title VII, USERRA, I-9s, background checks, investigations, grievances, discipline/terminations, EEOC charges, etc for seven Containerboard mills and approximately 50 Container/Box facilities across the US. Conduct training for HR personnel and first line leaders on HR legal issues and avoiding liability concerns. Provide legal support on HR-related Sustainability/Social Responsibility issues and customer audits.

Chief Environmental Counsel for Papers business unit. Main focus on Air issues but also provide operational legal support for other environmental media (water, waste, chemical management and reporting, etc) for US paper mills, a large number of box plants and recycling sites. Also provide legal support for the following areas: -enterprise and business Sustainability issues- US and European Product Stewardship efforts including developing experience with FDA matters-US-based legal support EMEA environmental issues-EHS auditing-Review commercial marketing materials for regulatory, Sustainability messaging and Green Guides compliance

Environmental, Safety and Health Counsel. Extensive involvement with environmental permitting for large mining expansion project, MSHA, OSHA, Air, Water and Waste Issues. Provided legal support for Corporate Compliance (Ethics Hotline for US operation), employment issues, legal support for strike contingency planning efforts, asbestos litigation management, Legacy environmental litigation and remediation legal support, and counsel for local Sustainability issues.

Extensive environmental, health and safety experience over a nearly 18 year timespan. Significant experience with OSHA, Cal-OSHA, CERCLA/SARA, Air/Water/ Waste issues, California's Prop 65, multiple state right-to-know, California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA"), product stewardship, Sustainability issues, hazard communication for operations and products, EHS auditing legal support, environmental permitting legal support, operations counsel to 25 US chemical facilities (heavily EHS but also including lease agreements, contracts, energy, employment), remediation, Superfund litigation, EHS M&A legal support, and Corporate Compliance (Ethics Hotline) issues at operations level.
