Founding faculty director of the Golub Capital Social Impact Lab, using digital technology and social science research to improve the effectiveness of social sector organizations. Associate Director, Stanford Institute on Human Centered Artificial Intelligence. Recent academic research and teaching focuses on the economics of the internet, platform competition, online advertising auctions and advertiser behavior, financial technology,the impact of the internet and social media on consumer behavior, and new econometric methods for analyzing big data.Long-term advisor to the province of British Columbia. Architect of an auction-based pricing system used for over a decade to price most of the timber harvest in the province. Testified in arbitration on softwood lumber trade dispute.Boards of Directors: Expedia; Lending Club; Ripple; Rover; Turo.
