About Susana Vinga

I am interested in alignment-free techniques for biological sequence analysis and comparison. This was the main theme of my PhD Thesis and I am still working on this topic. More recently, I got very curious about Systems Biology and Medicine, in particular the dynamic modelling of metabolic networks. I have been working in systems and computational biology, strengthening the fields of dynamic modeling, control and optimization of biological networks and data analysis of high-dimensional clinical data. My interests focus on the area of computer science and engineering applications to biology and medicine, particularly in model identification and control of biological systems, and also machine learning and biostatistics for personalized medicine, exploring the interface between engineering and the life sciences.
