What started as a one-woman, home-based firm, has evolved into a full-service design studio located in Chicago’s Gold Coast. Studio Brunstrum embraces both the classic and unexpected to compose cultivated environments that are influenced by art and culture. Susan manages the Studio team which includes specialists in project management, design, procurement, business and architecture. Susan also designs products, both in vendor collaborations and her own Elements collection. Studio Brunstrum’s work is widely published in national and regional magazines and newspapers, including Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago, Kitchen + Bath Makeovers, Trends Kitchens, Trends Bathrooms, Color Made Easy and Crain’s Chicago Business. As a frequent on-air contributor, Susan has appeared on numerous news and feature shows across radio, podcasts and television, including the nationally syndicated Business First, NBC/LXTV’s “George to the Rescue” and “Open House,” and Fox News. She is a former board member of Design Trust Ltd., an exclusive, New York-based think tank of interior design CEOs nationwide. Susan is allied with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), is a member of Chicago’s River North Design District and is a Career Advisory Committee member for Harper College’s Interior Design program. Studio Brunstrum designs have won awards from the ASID Illinois, Modern Luxury and Chrysalis Awards. She has participated in the prestigious Lake Forest Show House on Chicago’s north shore multiple times.
