Assist those who wish to support Luther Seminary's mission by planning gifts in their estate to help prepare future leaders for the church and other Christian organizations. Manage and steward current estate gifts to ensure donors' gifts achieve their goals. Partner with supporters who wish to transform lives through their support of Luther Seminary. Provide education for those who wish to learn more about how to achieve their charitable dreams and make even more significant gifts than they ever thought possible.

Managed 270 major and estate gift prospects nationally and raised an average of $8M/year, closed 17 gifts of $1M or more. Gift planning support and strategy provided to Medical School and School of Public Health Deans, faculty, staff, volunteers, and development officers.

Assist practitioners in how best to help individuals achieve their philanthropic dreams within the context of their financial and estate plan.Coach staff in creating programs that provide synergy for achieving philanthropic and organizational goals and mission.

Planned Giving is a program within a comprehensive development program that also includes annual giving, corporate and foundation giving, marketing and communication, and major giving. Generally, capital campaigns incorporate all of these development programs. Often, planned giving is the cornerstone for capital campaigns. A donor pyramid illustrates how a comprehensive development program works. The bottom of the pyramid represents the annual giving programs with the greatest number of donors giving the smallest contributions. The middle of the pyramid represents bigger gifts from fewer donors given through the major gift and corporate foundation programs. The top of the pyramid involves fewer donors giving significant gifts through the planned giving and leadership gift program. These gifts are often the individual's legacy to the world.

Provide leadership and management for the Gift Planning department, including overall strategic direction in addition to daily operations. Supervises three staff and is responsible for a personal portfolio of major/planned gift prospects. Provide internal gift planning advice to development officers, on-going training and support.

Provide leadership and management for the annual, major and planned gift programs, from overall strategic planning and direction to daily operations. Responsible for an international portfolio of major/planned gift prospects with an interest in prevention, cures, and treatments for Alzheimer's, stroke, headache, Parkinson's, ALS, multiple sclerosis and other brain disorders.

Develop strategic gift plans, cultivate and solicit major and/or planned gifts of $250,000 + in collaboration with Medical School and School of Public Health Deans, Chairs, faculty, staff, and volunteers nationally.

Strategic planning, management, and marketing in a seven person planned giving office. Portfolio of 270 planned and major gift donors and prospects. Annually raise an average of $8 million. Knowledge of effective gift planning in a comprehensive development program, major and planned gift techniques, role of tax and other financial considerations, assets, integration of charitable gifting in the overall estate plan, and working professional advisors.Assist Directors of Development in development goal setting and achievement. Present three to five charitable estate planning seminars annually. Collaborate with a volunteer committee. Establish and manage a planned giving recognition program and annual banquet.
