My experience includes public and stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, policy development, learning design and delivery, community-building, governance, and systems leadership. 20+ years of public-sector experience, with concurrent non-profit and entrepreneurial work. My approach is grounded in a commitment to values-based and people-first leadership, a passion for dialogue, academic work in international affairs and conflict resolution, and a commitment to cross-sectoral collaboration. I have gathered these experiences working on a variety of issue areas, including climate change, energy efficiency, communications infrastructure policy and regulation, multilateral affairs and trade, and enabling functions for the public service.Bio:Susan Johnston is passionate about dialogue, and creating new spaces for people to strengthen collaboration on topics they care about. Susan has explored these interests across the federal public service and broader Ottawa community, using her skills to support public engagement and partnerships, conflict resolution, international affairs, and the arts. Susan is part of the Government of Canada’s Free Agents program and is currently supporting the Net-Zero Advisory Body. Previously, she held roles in the Office of Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources Canada, at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, the Canada School of Public Service, the Privy Council Office, and in communications policy and international collaboration at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
