May 2008 - Jan 2009

Budget Coordinator

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

I was contracted for this position to achieve what a former contractor could not achieve three months prior. The problem was that the permanent employee in this position suddenly left on extended sick leave and the monthly departmental forecasting report submitted to accounting for upper management reporting could not be produced because the master MS Excel file was corrupt. In addition, this departmental report was a point of contention because it did not provide the information to accounting in a format that could easily be manipulated. My approach was not to attempt to resurrect the corrupt file but, to learn the process, consult with accounting, build a new file and develop a sustainable process. As such, I was responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the $122M budget for the Major Equipment & Overhaul department, gathering monthly incurred expenses through CODA, AVANTIS and COGNUS reports and applying these allocations against budget in order to ensure conformance to budgetary limits and monthly reporting requirements.Achievements in this role include the following:✔ Developed and consistently produced on-time monthly department forecasting report for submission to accounting for upper management reporting.✔ Developed budget management process and wrote procedure manual by effective liaison with accounting and operations departments to identify needs and by implementing changes to information collection methods to increase timeliness of reporting.✔ Trained the process and procedure to end-users.TransCanada Pipelines is a major North American energy company based in Calgary that develops and operates energy infrastructure in North America. For reasons of growth, I left my former employ and continued my career at Egghead in a larger office, an established computerized environment and plenty to learn about software, selling, promoting and client relations. Office | Sales Administrator || Promotions Coordinator

Jul 1991 - Mar 1992

Medical Laboratory Technologist

Various Hospitals & Private Laboratories

Canada & Australia

I knew I wanted to travel and work overseas since I was 16 years old so this was the career I chose because it was a universal profession that would allow me to obtain working visas. I began my career in Biochemistry at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and soon moved to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia where I practised most of my profession.I returned to Canada in 1985 and quickly learned how outdated Australian technology was, at the time, and my expert trouble shooting skills on Sequential Multi-Analyzers with Computer (SMAC) were not as revered in Canada. Instead of retraining in MLT, I chose to work with people instead of instruments and went back to college to earn my Marketing Management Associate Diploma. It is one of the top 5 best decisions I have made in my lifetime, so far, because it has exposed my innate analytical and assessment abilities.
