My original careers were nursing, which I had to leave due to a knee injury and a 33 years working for solicitors' practices; 24 years of that as a Legal Executive speacialising in all aspects of residential property.I have spent time caring for elderly relatives from which I gained an insight into the workings of care of the elderly when dealing with the medical and nursing professions, the social care system and nursing homes.In 2014 I decided to follow a long held dream and go to University to study history. I attended the University of South Wales and I had the opportunity to participate in Erasmus + and spent a semester at the University of Limerick. I graduated in July 2017. My dissertation was on early 20th century humanitarian aid focussing on the German and Austrian Famine post WW1 and the Russian Famine of 1921-1923.After a short spell of working as a research executive in the Recruitment industry I have re-entered the legal world as a Chartered Legal Executive in conveyancing. My current role is specialising in the sale of residential and small commercial properties at auction. The work is varied and fast paced.In 2022 I was awarded an MA in Britain in the First World War from University of Wolverhampton. Again my dissertation was on the deliverance of aid but focussing on Serbia 1915-1918 primarily by the Serbian Relief Fund, Scottish Women's Hospital, and to a lesser degree the British Red Cross and the Society of Friends.My passion for history continues and I am currently working with FACHRS on a project covering patient and staff experiences in English and Welsh Lunatic Asylums 1861 to 1901.
