I was drawn to the nonprofit field from a desire to help people, the community and the environment. I love work where I can make a difference, solve problems, and make improvements.Sharing my expertise with other nonprofit professionals in the form of dynamic presentations and trainings is a passion of mine. When designing and conducting trainings I use humor and strong visual images to bring points home and get the audience engaged.Establishing social connections and communities to support causes and advance the message of an organization is something I pursue regularly in various formats. I initiated and maintain the Facebook pages for various organizations, including the Long Island State Veterans Home and The Association of Professional Volunteer Administrators. I have designed and maintain websites for the Association of Professional Volunteer Administrators and the Long Island Volunteer Hall of Fame.Writing has always been an interest and I use these skills in my quarterly newsletter for the Long Island State Veterans Home as well as my personal blog, Desire4Simple, established in 2012.Working in conjunction with Stony Brook University business students I created a recruitment video that is now posted on the Long Island State Veterans Home’s website and on YouTube.At the Long Island State Veterans Home I enjoy connecting people and their talents with a volunteer opportunity where they have a positive impact.I love connecting with other professionals for networking.
