Before becoming a mediator and coach, I held several high-level positions in corporate legal departments and also had my own law practice. All of my work revolved around the negotiation and drafting of agreements and required excellent problem-solving and collaborative skills.For many years, I’ve also been an advocate for individuals with disabilities and special needs. My interest and commitment in this area evolved from the issues I had to address while raising my son, who is dyslexic and has Type 1 diabetes. I have served on the board of the Learning Disabilities Association of NYC for over 20 years and was president of LDANYC from 2009 through 2015. Additionally, I am co-founder of the Parents Diabetes Network of NYC.In recent years, I’ve chosen to focus my professional endeavors on mediation and coaching because of the potential it affords for helping people to make constructive change in their lives. I consider my most successful mediations to be those in which the parties learn to communicate not only by understanding their own needs, but also those of the other party.I am very active in a number of professional associations related to mediation and family law. I am currently a member of the board of directors of The NYS Council on Divorce Mediation, the largest private mediation organization in NYS, and am chair of its Public Awareness Committee.I am licensed to practice law in New York State and received my Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law in New York. I attended New York University as an undergraduate and received a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature.
