Data Analyst For The It Department At Puget Sound Naval Shipyard
Spent 4 months in Japan on a high-profile project for the US Navy acting as a liaison between customers, computer support and management teams: Tracked technical problems experienced by on-site users by running queries to see what types of tickets were being created, who was working on the tickets and how long resolutions were taking. Used the data from the queries to create pivot tables and charts so managers in the States could easily view the metrics and data and prioritize the work for their groups. Performed technical troubleshooting on hardware problems experienced by users, identified software problems that were particular to users in Japan. Developed and sustained positive customer relationships with the users and was involved in sharing information with the customers to build their understanding of issues and capabilities regarding the computer systems used in Japan as opposed to the systems they were accustomed to using in the States. Was critical to the success of a 6000 computer workstation rollout at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 2009. Each day 40 workstations were replaced resulting in users losing software and hardware that they needed to do their jobs. Responsibilities included: evaluating customer business needs by asking them about their job functions, how often they used a particular software application or piece of hardware, whether they could use a different workstation that was equipped with the application or peripheral instead of having it on the workstation at their desk; identifying problems with procurement, compatibility or availability of requested software or hardware; proposing alternative solutions if the request could not be fulfilled; managing work-in-progress and field data of outstanding problems and requests; and expediting technical and software issues.
