When the organization was known as DHSSA, I was selected from a group of highly-qualified candidates to establish a handful of community programs with a pronounced focus on case management and service navigation for approximately 3,500 regional residents. On Aug. 1, 2016, DHSSA rebranded to NTHSSA; currently oversee a portfolio comprising Home Care, the Regional Health Promotion Public Health Program, the Long Term Care Facility, and the Dental Program while also holding total accountability for contracted services in the Hay River Reserve and Katlodeeche First Nations. Participate on the NWT Nursing Leadership Forum. Lead, motivate, and inspire 5 direct reports and 65 indirect reports.Key Achievements & Contributions: * Created and launched the Regional Dental Hygiene Program - an initiative that expanded top-quality dental care from school-aged children only to also include pre-schoolers, adults, and vulnerable elders. * Successfully proposed a pilot Flexible Respite Program that offers home support to caregivers of adults and children with disabilities; as a result, played an active role in lowering caregiver burnout that could otherwise negatively impact families. * Conceived a database that now delivers a snapshot focus into the targeted client population served; as a result, this database now contains such vital information as client priority status from a healthcare perspective, where they are located, and emergency contacts impacting vulnerable children and elders. * Overhauled the entire Food Service Delivery Program to restore compliance in the way that cooked food was prepared and portioned. Hired and collaborated with a Registered Dietitian to revise the entire program, reverse unacceptable food delivery safety standards, and improve the overall dining experience for elders - both in long term care and those who receive Meals on Wheels menu offerings.
