I’ve developed indexes, a thesaurus, created a digital publishing process, built a large, complex website, invented procedures for controlling quality of publications, conducted interviews and user research, used analytical tools to find out what people want to know, designed website interfaces, built templates and training materials, conducted business and process analysis, and most importantly, learned how to work with other people to get all of these things accomplished.

Program Coordinator, Project Management OfficeSuny Poly Sematech Jan 2014 - Dec 2015I joined the project management office as part of a corporate focus to improve project management and project planning practices across SEMATECH's technical project teams.I worked as part of a four-person team to plan and manage the strategic planning process, cost estimating, and multiple phases of project planning--from early ideation and project proposals to detailed planning of multi-year projects. Our group had business process ownership for the schedule, the templates, the documentation, and reporting for the annual planning process.In addition to oversight of the planning process, we were integrated with the technical project teams and wore multiple hats depending on the size, scope and needs of the project. This work ranged from communication tasks--such as team meeting logistics and meeting documentation--to creation and maintenance of project planning documents, to status reporting, to proposal writing, to budget development.Coming from my background in document and content management systems, I also worked with staff in the project management office to develop corporate systems, based in SharePoint, that tracked each project, its tasks and milestones and deliverables, and the associated project planning documentation.

Manager, Technology TransferSematech Aug 1993 - Dec 2013Albany, Ny, UsMy job functions focused on the management of internally written software applications that supported SEMATECH's private, members-only extranet.This website provided a repository of about 30,000 technical publications; managed the membership of more than 20 advisory boards and business councils; published meeting announcements, meeting registrations and calendars for more than 250 meetings a year; summarized research projects and the deliverables; maintained newsletter and publication alert subscriptions.I, and my co-project manager from IT, were responsible for writing the original requirements for the site, and for reviewing the proposals and selecting the company who built the first iteration of the site. I served as the client liaison, along with IT staff, as it was being written. I was responsible for all internal and external training for that site when it was launched. And I had oversight for all aspects of the site's data integrity - from the account request process, to compliance with corporate policies for confidential information, to the databases that drove the information displayed on the website. I was also responsible for all the indexing and classification systems used on the site. All of the information that was published through the system came from internal business processes--that requirement made the development of the system not just a project to build a container for information, it was also a business analysis and process design project at the same time. In addition to responsibility for the website, I also managed the staff in the technical publications group and worked as an individual contributor in the software applications development team as information architect, interface designer, and website content creator. -
Indexer/AbstractorSematech Aug 1989 - Jul 1993Albany, Ny, UsWhen I started this work, SEMATECH was a very young company and did not have systems and processes established for managing what would become a large database of technical publications. I established, from the ground up, document management procedures, publication templates, and abstracting and indexing guidelines. I also created thesaurus of indexing terms used to describe SEMATECH technical publications. I developed requirements for the document management application that was written in house to track SEMATECH technical publications. I was responsible for requirements and specifications of the document request and delivery modules later added to the tracking system. For both of these systems I performed the customer acceptance testing and wrote all system training materials and procedural documentation. I trained the document delivery staff, customer service staff who entered document requests, and monitored the system for internal accuracy.
