While selling a laser printer to Computer Task Group for use in their direct mail production facility, I was recruited to join their team. I was asked to target the US banks as they were huge users of direct mail marketing. During this time, I acquired business from 10 of the top 12 banks in the nation.

I sold main frame computers so that tells you how old I am! In a male dominated world of computer sales, I was able to sell the first computer system to replace an IBM mainframe in my territory. Convincing people that it was the right choice to leave big blue was no easy feat.

The gentleman who hired me to sell vacuum cleaners recognized raw talent in me and hired me to sell Norelco dictation equipment. Norelco had a great training program that really strengthened my sales skills and gave me the business experience to launch a sales career in a business environment.

After determining that accounting was not for me, I responded to an ad that said, "Do you like people? Do you like having financial independence?" Although, my parents thought I was throwing away my education, I couldn't resist the draw to something other than crunching numbers. An incredible sales manager taught me to know and believe in this vacuum cleaner to the point where I could take it apart and put it back together again. His additional great coaching allowed me to excel to the point where I was closing more than half of the appointments I went on.
