I am a digital reporter covering reproductive justice issues across the state of New Mexico. This includes reproductive health, LGBTQ+ issues and social justice. I help to cover the New Mexico Legislature and I maintain a monthly reproductive justice newsletter.

I developed a course in environment and literature for under-served students.

I have written in-depth enterprise stories on a variety of previously unreported or under reported news stories involving heavy metals contamination, a defunct phosphorous plant, climate change, and one woman's struggle for medical malpractice justice. Besides in-depth, narrative reporting, I specialize in features and shorter profile stories. Montana Public Radio has interviewed me about my stories a number of times. In addition, I write breaking news, daily stories and shorter enterprise stories on deadline.

As a reporter for The Silver City Sun-News, I shined a spotlight on the potential Gila River diversion. One of my stories on this issue received a first place award for environmental reporting.In addition, I hired freelance writers and photographers and doled out assignments. I also maintained a budget for freelance work. Moreover, in consultation with my supervising editor, I decided front page layout and front page art every day and took most of the photographs. I also shot video. I took charge of the newspaper’s Facebook page. Under my guidance, we saw a 64 percent increase in Facebook “fans” in just one week while streamlining the posting process.

As a live announcer, I read Associated Press news over the air. This included hard news, business news, sports and weather. I started as an afternoon live announcer but was promoted to the most listened to spot - morning news announcer - within a year. I also wrote, on a freelance basis, culture feature stories for The Sentinel, a weekly local newspaper.

I taught one semester of Theatre Appreciation to under-served students and one GED class and provided one-to-one mentoring to GED students.

I taught two classes of Expository writing.

I taught creative writing, English composition and literature for three years, including summer semesters. After my first year, the English Department promoted me to a salaried position.
