I lead weekend and summer programming for twenty youth in Grade 10 from inner city Toronto. The programming includes outdoor activities, character development, as well as awarding high school credit courses. In the summer, I led 2 canoe trips for the organization (10 and 7 days long).

I facilitated inspirational, engaging and information outdoor education programming for school groups staying at the centre for 1 to 5 days which included GPS, wilderness skills, ecology, hiking, biking, geology, etc. Due to my lifeguarding and first aid qualifications, I also led outdoor recreation activities such as canoe trips, canoeing, swimming, etc.

I mentored first year university students from the Faculty of Environment in order to help them be successful in their post-secondary education by creating community, editing essays, organizing study skill workshops, developing student-faculty relationships, etc.

This job included many components such as managing a small staff team (including training, hiring and supervising), booking and planning the logistical aspects of the canoe trips, while still physically leading canoe trips. I was in charge of the canoe tripping department of the camp and ensured that all 10 canoe trips of the summer (ranging in length from 3 t0 16 days) ran smoothly. I also reported to my supervisors (the camp director and overall camping manager) regarding the canoe tripping department.

I led canoe trips for girls aged 10-16 in Algonquin Park. The facilitation role included pre-trip preparation including food and equipment preparation; on-trip leading including ensuring the safety of the campers, navigation, teaching of hard canoe tripping skills, and creating a fun experience; as well as post-trip clean up. During this time, I was also in charge of the canoe tripping department's equipment.

I performed the role of lifeguard at a waterfront setting, while leading kayaking, canoeing and swimming activities. While not acting as a lifeguard, I was a cabin counsellor for girls aged 8 to 16. I also led 2 canoe trips (8 and 10 days long).
