Research when combined with any area of interest is a concoction capable of change. I strive to inculcate my roots in Psychology, both the theoretical and the experiential aspect, with the field of research to further the impact of both in a dynamic society. This would involve going beyond standardized diagnosis and treatment to create individualistic and holistic approaches, introducing marginalized yet powerful fields like forensic/criminal psychology into the Indian criminal justice system and the overall de-stigmatization of accessing modes of psychological intervention. I have spent most of my academic life heading research projects related to Forensic and Legal Psychology and outside of college I participated in internships that trained me in clinically assessing and researching forensic mental health. Building on these foundations, I desire to personalize these stages to create individualistic interventions and go beyond standardized and reductionist manuals. My career goals were more distinctly shaped by my participation in specialized research thesis’ dedicated to criminal Psychology and delinquency. I was given the opportunity to head an entire research team and to integrate Psychology, crime and law. I would have to say this experience helped me in developing attention to detail, systematic collection, analysis, organization and interpretation of data, better research writing skills and the ability to communicate, direct and manage an entire group.I hope to continue integrating the skills of research and psychology so I can contribute to creating a reliable foundation to aid individual and community growth.
