In 2014 I finished my final internship at Fujifilm Manufacturing Europe B.V at the department Tilburg Research Laboratories - Life Science. My research subject was the adhesion and proliferation of cells on 3D recombinant collagen-like (bio)polymers. Therefore I prepared solid microspheres and subsequently evaluated them in cell culture. Before I started this internship I had no experience with cell culturing. Within 7.5 months I was able to design my own experiments. During my internship at Synbra Technology B.V. I did research on BioFoam®. The main goal was to improve the properties of the product by adding different additives. I focused on several properties namely: Moisture absorption, Melt Flow Index, CO2 content, density, cell density (using SEM), crystallinity (using DSC). I developed several DSC methods to investigate the influence of additives on crystallinity.Besides my internship report I also wrote an article on the influence of additives on the crystallinity of BioFoam®. This article is accepted for publication in e-JES.
