Recently devised a new generic approach to overcome complex matrix interference with biomarker detection and circumventing some limitations with platform sensitivity and the need for a calibrant diluent for immunoassays: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-17823-yDevise, perform, optimise and validate novel immunoassays for biomarkers indicative of responsiveness to training in elite athletes (collaborating with UK Sport, English Institute of Sport, British Olympic Association and a Newcastle-based SME, OJ-Bio). Present findings at regular consortium meetings. Conceive IP and work closely with IP counsel.Train, delegate and supervise work as a line manager. Pro-active in staff development of objectives discussed during performance review process.Coach and mentor team members on scientific writing and networking skills, and offer a company-wide training course on effective experimental planning. Provide protein biochemistry support (e.g. antibody-based assays, 1D/2D gel electrophoresis, tryptic digests, protein purification) for other teams at LGC.Provide consultancy for immunoassay based detection methods for customers, advising on experimental design and data interpretation.Formulate new grant proposals in response to competitive tenders. Editorial board member of the World Journal of Methodology.Recent activities:External project manager for the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) assessing concordance of project delivery against the original scope, time, budget, planning, risk management and plans for commercial exploitation. Manager of TSB monitoring officers in Biosciences sector.Inward and outward secondments with SMEs and academia to troubleshoot industry-relevant technical issues.
