Susan has attended both Fairfield University and Western Connecticut State University, working towards a B.A. in Sociology with a concentration in Multicultural Studies. Her special interests include youth development, education, and the Arts. Susan has previously worked as the assistant to the Director of Diversity Programs at Fairfield College Preparatory School, and served as the President of the Spanish-American & Latino Association under the mentorship of both Assistant Directors of the Fairfield University Cultural Center. Through this experience, she has developed her passion to provide guidance, education, and resources to talented but underserved individuals. In 2012, Susan met the owners of Double Up Dance Company wherein she found a home to express her creativity, build on her leadership skills, and make a mark in the Connecticut dance community. With her background in group development, her passion for dance, and her newfound love for the Double Up movement, Susan was granted the opportunity to work closely with its founders on the evolution of its dance department. She worked as the company’s Assistant Artistic Director, collaborating with the lead choreographers and team advisor to plan, arrange, and execute all DUDC projects and performances. While maintaining her role as a company dancer, she also managed the day-to-day operations of Team Leggoo. Aside from administrative projects, she worked with each company dancer, and prospective members during the company’s summer training program, to set goals and further develop their passion for the dance industry.Currently, Susan teaches dance and works in hospitality in order to complete her Bachelor’s degree. She aspires to be a mentor, a teacher, an artist, and a guiding hand in the success of other artists. Her true sense of fulfillment lies in the breakthrough emerging dancers experience when learning about themselves and their passion. Her dream is to be someone who facilitates that breakthrough.
