My practice focuses on content-related issues, marketing/advertising, emerging technologies & privacy. Since modern marketing inevitably crosses channels, I help clients navigate regulatory issues (including CAN-SPAM, COPPA, TCPA, FTC, NAD, CARU), prepare policies (online, mobile, social media/influencer) guidelines & vet promotions (whether chance, skill, user-generated content, charitable, or hybrid - and whether offered via radio, TV, print, mail, e-mail, online, or GPS-enabled apps). I work closely with promotions clients from pre-campaign to wrap-up to ensure compliance with the growing body of regulations implicated by cross-channel & emerging tech offers without sacrifice of marketing goals. I enjoy collaborating with clients to identify creative solutions to otherwise onerous regulations. I prepare agreements with co-sponsors, prize suppliers, celebrity endorsers & fulfillment entities to ensure mutual understanding of their respective responsibilities in co-promoted campaigns. I've launched a logic-based promo page via Jotform to reduce client expense & expedite preparation of promotions materials. I try to give back by lending a voice to the more vulnerable in our community – particularly victims of abuse or neglect or “at risk” – as a certified Guardian ad Litem, as a board member for A Gift for Teaching of Tampa Bay, the Child Abuse Council & Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and as a legal services volunteer in the local Domestic Violence Intake Center. Kent (my indisputably better half) and I together wrangle 3 sons. In my "spare" time, I am an avid lifelong student – of martial arts (as lowly 1st degree black belt, I can at least legally vent any simmering frustrations during sparring), music (old instruments (flute, piccolo, piano) and new (violin, next up, the cello), languages (currently, ASL, next up, Japanese), and all things tech, the nerdier the better (still looking for new ideas for the 3D printer).

I worked at the Feikens law firm (then known as Feikens, Foster & Vander Male) as an associate lawyer. My areas of practice at the Feikens firm were primarily in defense against claims of medical malpractice, product liability and personal injury. My responsibilities included all manners of litigation in state and federal court, both at the trial and appellate levels, including preparing pretrial risk reports, responding to complaints and petitions, preparing and litigating motions, taking and defending depositions, trying jury trial cases, litigating appeals.

My role was to assist Judge Vinson in managing one-half his civil docket while actively participating in the criminal docket as well. My day-to-day responsibilities to the judge included reviewing and researching all legal issues relevant to pending motions in criminal and civil cases, making recommendations regarding disposition of such motions and preparing proposed orders ruling on pending motions, preparing bench memoranda to assist the judge in trials, preparing jury instructions and pretrial orders, interfacing with counsel when necessary regarding status inquiries, communicating with court personnel, assisting the judge during courtroom proceedings, and attending all kinds of proceedings in criminal and civil cases, including trials, pretrial conferences, suppression hearings, motion hearings, arraignments and sentencing hearings, allocution hearings and dispositive motion hearings.
