Prior to joining the city, Susan was the General Manager for CableVantage, Inc. for 10 years. Her background also includes management with a corporate hotel chain, real estate office and big box retailer starting in the mid 80’s to the early 90’s. Susan attended Okaloosa-Walton Community College and obtained certifications through corporate management training. Community involvement throughout the years in Sumter has been important to Susan for her family, career and character growth as well as a strong commitment to giving back to the community. She currently serves as the Membership Chair and previously the PR Chair for the Sumter Chamber of Commerce, and serves on various other Chamber committees. She previously served on the Chamber Executive Board of Directors, served as President of the Merchants Association, Community Liaison for Third Army for 4 years, President of the Iris Festival, Sumter Green Chair for 10 years, Downtown Promotions Committee Chair for 12 years, Served as the Moderator of the Forum 2018-2022. Treasurer of the Forum for 4 years 2003-2007, Selected for 2006 TWIN Program and served as Communications Chair, Sumter County Cultural Commission Board, Derthick Education Foundation and Sumter County Literacy Council.
