As Senior Sustainability Advisor at Vinnuhúsið (The House of Industry) in the Faroe Islands my primary role concerns guiding and supporting companies in their sustainability journeys. In my position I am furthermore substantially involved in raising the awareness among Faroese companies of the benefits of working towards increased sustainability and how implementing green solutions can positively impact company performance.

IRF (irf.fo) is a Faroese intermunicipal waste management company, which handles approx. 42,000 tonnes of waste per year, of which 12,000 tonnes are sent for recycling. As Chief green officer (CGO), my main responsibility is to make sure that IRF constantly is moving waste up in the waste hierarchy. This includes both finding new ways to reduce, reuse and recycle waste and also to raise awareness regarding waste management. The CGO is also responsible for overseeing the environmental performance and the ISO 14001 environmental system and to make sure daily work and all projects follow IRF’s goals set in our environmental policy.

Kommunala Brennistøðin (KB) is a regional waste management company located in the Faroe Islands. The business includes recycling centres, a waste incineration plant and a landfill. KB is environmentally certified in accordance with ISO 14001 and the guiding principle in all our activities is environmental awareness. As environmental manager, I am responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of all of the company´s areas of operation – both holistically and in detail. My responsibilities also include control of environmental data, reporting to the enviromental agency and development of KBs recycling centres, in order to increase recycling and secure an efficient and sustainable handling of waste.

At the environmental department in Tórshavnar kommuna (Tórshavn Municipality) I’m responsible for carrying out the municipality's new environmental policy and the control and handling of cases regarding environmental law etc. I also have responsibility for organizing events in order to make citizens more aware of their environmental impact and how more sustainable choices can be made.

As a process engineer at Himmerfjärden WWTP I’m responsible for the anaerobic digestion process as well as the nitrogen removal from the reject water through partial nitration and Anammox process (DeAmmon process). The work includes process control, managing research projects and performing laboratory work.

Correcting exams in the course Cleaner Production. Subjects are: strategies to improve the environmental work, water treatment, waste management and air pollution control.

Part-time job as home care service assistant and nursing home assistant in Faroe Islands. Duties and responsibilities were the same as for regular staff (all certified nursing assistants or nurses), except not dressing wounds or giving injections. Work tasks included administering medications.
