A small niche bookstore featuring high-quality educational materials for children & parents. Learning Lane was a destination store attracting savvy parents from all over BC, as well as teachers & school boards sourcing hard to find quality resources. In addition I started publishing a comprehensive catalogue that started as 24 pgs the first year and grew to over 100 pages by the time I sold the business. We shipped to every province, state and at least 20 countries. I enjoyed filling the catalogue with teaching bits, giving it a bit of a "how-to" feel, as well as humour, some of which is still floating around the internet and seems to have made my name famous in some circles. One of the innovative things I did was organize and host an annual used curriculum sale, geared towards homeschoolers, that attracted attendees from as far away as the Okanagan & Vancouver Island, who lined up happily outside the door for up to 2 hours to get first crack at the hot buys! Because of the unique way it was organized it grew to be the largest sale of its kind in Western Canada.
