About Susie Pike

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the UC Davis Institute of Transportation studies; and a professora of capoeira. I teach capoeira classes for all ages in Davis California, and I work on research related to the intersections of environmental policy, travel behavior and sustainable transportation. Environmental PolicyIn my research I focus on the environmental and policy implications of individual behaviors and strive to work with policy makers and planners to address complex environmental problems.Travel BehaviorMy recent work includes the study of social influence in transportation mode choice and as a potential tool for sustainable transportation programs. I am currently studying the adoption of on-demand ride-hailing services and the impacts of these services on the use of other mode of transportation. Sustainable TransportationI am working on evaluating stakeholder perspectives on policies that would increase the use of ride-splitting or pooled on-demand service.

    Susan Pike has been training in the art of capoeira for over eight years. Capoeira is a traditional Brazilian art from which combines elements of acrobatics, fighting, dance, music, martial arts and gymnastics. Capoeira is practiced all over the world. As a student of capoeira, Susan trains with Contra Mestre Galego in Sacramento CA. She has taught children and adults at the Capoeira Arts Academy and at MOVE! Studio. Susan also started a chapter of this capoeira school in Davis CA, which has been growing for the past three years. Capoiera students in Davis participate in weekly classes, demonstrations, special events and workshops. Look for classes at the UC Davis Experimental College and at Fiesta DanceN Fitness, Davis CA.
